A special report by The Gordon Square PRINT

Edgewater LIVE, the wildly popular summer concert event continued this past Thursday with live music, local food trucks and entertainment on our Cleveland lakefront.   Edgewater Beach and the Cleveland Metroparks host Edgewater LIVE every Thursday through August 11 (no Edgewater LIVE on July 21 due to the Republican National Convention), from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.  The Gordon Square PRINT attended Edgewater LIVE this past Thursday, June 30, taking the shuttle from the Capitol Theatre to the W. 73 Street tunnel to Edgewater Beach, where we enjoyed live music from Victory Highway, explored many of Cleveland’s best food trucks, and spoke to Cleveland Metroparks CEO Brian Zimmerman about the weekly event, the Gordon Square neighborhood shuttle, this week’s band, the food, stand-up paddleboarding lessons (from SUP CLE Stand Up Paddleboarding at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.), and free beginner’s yoga classes (from The Source Yoga Studio at 7 p.m.).  Please visit clevelandmetroparks.com and stay close to the Cleveland Metroparks Facebook page for Edgewater LIVE travel tips.

Haiku Mistress Set to Return to Gordon Square for Fall Fest 2015

The Guerilla Haiku Movement is public art experience that has been to 50 cities nationally engaging neighborhoods in creative play.

A Guerilla Haiku event is like none other. The formula is simple, you get a whole bunch of friends together and join a whole bunch of strangers in a public place. You grab your buckets of sidewalk chalk, and go on a wild haiku adventure into your cities with an optional scavenger hunt and your fancy as your guides.Take photos, send them back to Haiku Central, and feel emboldened to invite passers-by to haiku too

The result is a an afternoon of seeing your city with new eyes.  Guerilla eyes.  And a fleeting trail of your experiences left behind you.

“This fall we are heading to the Gordon Square Fall Fest to capture the stories of Detroit Avenue in 17-syllable odes that will be hung in a temporary installation up and down Detroit,” said Caley Vickerman, aka the Haiku Mistress.  “Our ambitious goal is 500 haiku in one day, and we can only achieve it with your help, so come down, grab some chalk, and let those syllables fly!”

Guerilla Haiku is seeking volunteer agents of haiku- so if you have some time Saturday afternoon, October 17th, join us in our adventures: contact Caitlin at clewins@cptonline.org.
